Posted June 05, I was just wondering if this game has had some of its compatibility issues ironed out. I know GOG tends to tweaks such games to make them more compatible with modern systems, and I was wondering if this was the case, here. I own the game on Steam, and it crashes constantly, and sometimes doesn't start at all, seemingly of its own will.
I know there's guides and whatnot, and believe me, I've spent hours trying to tweak things to work, and the best I've ever gotten with the Steam version was a game that would crash so often I couldn't progress further than Level 1. If it is, I'd highly consider buying it, because as of right now, I can't get back into it. Posted June 06, BTW the majority of the crashing and instability problems were not with Windows 7, but with multi core computers with more then two cores.
Fallout 3 did not like them. But that problem is fixed with a simple edit of the FO3 init file. Win 7 got blamed because most computers that shipped with Win 7 were multicore computers. Posted September 09, Majic8 Majic8 Sorry, data for given user is currently unavailable.
Posted September 10, I have seen posts that state this and to be sure I emailed GOG once and they answered back that yes it is. Use the support page. Posted September 11, Just doesn't have the ini enhancements. But those can be added pretty easy.
Works on Win7 fine, using win7 pro. Set it up for my son earlier on his machine. Ran fine. Then it will work. This accesses your computer's cores. Set it to core 0, possibly core 1 too.
It's not recommended to use 2 cores. Secondly, you need to right click on Fallout 3 when in the 'Processes' tab. Click 'Properties'. There will then be a compatibility tab. Then it will have a check mark with something like 'Run in a different version'. Then, in the selection box click Windows XP service pack 2 or 3. Hit apply. Then it should work. If this doesn't make much sense, there are plenty of videos on YouTube. User Info: AccordianSolo. Sign Up for free or Log In if you already have an account to be able to ask and answer questions.
Question Status Can this laptop run Fallout 4? I'll stick with New Vegas then. What is GFWL? Only on one machine did I have to set Fallout for "Window Mode" and it was because the machine was just barely under the minimum system requirements for Fallout 3 and running Windows 7 x Do you meet the "minimum system requirements"? Where did you download GFWL from?
There's a link at the bottom for "Download the Games for Windows Client". If you did all this and it will not run even in "Window Mode" , I am baffled. Just trying to help. Can't imagine the thought of not being able to play Fallout 3, or New Vegas, or any of the Elder Scrolls Thank you all.
